The Venture Award is presented by the Iowa Area Development Group (IADG), the leader in business and community development for over 220 member owned electric cooperatives, municipal utilities and independent telecommunication companies throughout Iowa. IADG is committed to providing consultation and assistance to help businesses and communities achieve their project development goals. The Iowa Venture Award recognizes existing Iowa companies for their significant contributions to Iowa’s economy through entrepreneurial leadership, innovation and the creation of job opportunities.

ProPulse was nominated for this award by Maquoketa Valley Electric Cooperative (MVEC). “We feel that ProPulse is very deserving of a Venture Award to recognize their growth as a business and also the employment opportunities that they provide to the communities that Maquoketa Valley serves,” said Jeremy Richert, CEO of Maquoketa Valley Electric Cooperative.

MVEC is one of the largest electric cooperatives in the state. In 2018 we partnered with MVEC to acquire our headquarters building and 2.5 acres adjacent to it. “What’s great about it is because we bought the additional 2.5 acres, we have opportunities there for future growth,” said Jeff Theis, President and CEO of ProPulse. “This simply couldn’t be possible without the help of Maquoketa Valley REC,” said Theis.

Since we began in Peosta, Iowa, we have grown from 6 employees to 130. We are grateful to be recognized for this award and look forward to continued growth into the future.

“We are really appreciative of the recognition and I’d be remiss if I didn’t recognize that it’s the management team and the rank-and-file employees that put me in a position to sit here and talk on a video accepting an award. I wouldn’t be accepting this award if there wasn’t 129 other people that have worked towards this kind of recognition and they deserve to know that,” said Theis.

Theis, along with some members of our management team accepted this award on behalf of ProPulse.

Silver Anniversary, Golden Manufacturer

Twenty-five years ago, Schieffer Co. International opened in Peosta with just six employees in a 12,000-square-foot facility. In the two and a half decades since, the hose manufacturer has changed its name and expanded exponentially. Now known as ProPulse, a Schieffer Company, it employs 130, utilizes 130,000 square feet of space, and is celebrating its silver anniversary in March. “25 years is a long time,” said Jeff Theis, President and CEO of ProPulse, “but I believe ‘blink of an eye’ is appropriate when describing our journey.”
